By God's grace, I have learned a thing or two in the 44 years since I became a born-again Christian at age 13 in 1980. I have read many Bible commentaries but have often been disappointed that theologians avoid commenting on the passages I looked up. Therefore, my goal in this blog is not to comment on the entire Holy Bible; but rather, to share what I have learned. To God alone be ALL the praise and credit. Jesus is precious!

John 20:17

John 20:13-17, “And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him. And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master. Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

I would like to comment on Jesus' words spoken to Mary Magdalene, “Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father.” I am saddened that ALL of the Devil's modern Bible revisions change and corrupt this important Scripture passage. The following is a comparison between the inspired King James Bible versus the popular English Standard Version (ESV) which is officially used by the cult at Bob Jones University...
KING JAMES BIBLE (KJB) - John 20:17, “Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.” [emphasis added]
ENGLISH STANDARD VERSION (ESV) - John 20:17, Jesus said to her, Do not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” [emphasis added]
There is a very big difference between not touching someone (before they physically make contact with you), versus not clinging to someone (which implies that they are already holding you). Mary never made contact with Jesus' physical body. If she had she would have corrupted Him. Jesus was sinless. He had just sacrificed Himself as the Lamb of God for the sins of the world (John 1:29). If Mary would have touched Jesus before He ascended with His literal liquid blood to present Himself before God the Father, then all would have been in vain. It was imperative that Mary not touch Jesus in any way. Yet, the Devil's modern Bibles pervert this passage to convey a very different thought to the reader.

Please stay away from the Devil's modern Bible versions. Only the King James Bible is inspired and reliable in the English language today.
